As part of this commitment, we are currently seeking a skilled Chef De Partie to join the team on a temporary basis at Cle Du Cap, one of our premier facilities in the Southern Suburbs. This position is available as a maternity cover contract and offers an excellent opportunity for a talented culinary professional to work in a dynamic and supportive environment.
The Role: Chef De Partie (Temporary)
As a Chef De Partie, you will be responsible for supporting the kitchen team in meal preparation, cooking, plating, and quality control. You will also ensure that food safety and hygiene standards are maintained at the highest level. This role is ideal for a chef with energy, creativity, and strong attention to detail, who thrives in a professional catering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Meal Preparation & Presentation
- Prepare, cook, and present meals in accordance with Faircape’s standards and recipes.
 - Ensure all dishes are prepared with consistency, creativity, and precision.
 - Maintain quality across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and café meals.
 - Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations.
 
Food Safety & Hygiene
- Ensure strict compliance with health, hygiene, and safety regulations.
 - Oversee proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
 - Conduct regular checks to ensure high food hygiene standards are maintained by all staff.
 
Café & Coffee Shop Duties
- Oversee preparation of café-style meals and light dishes to the highest standard.
 - Ensure all items in fridges and storage areas are labelled, dated, and rotated correctly.
 - Maintain cleanliness and quality in the café service area.
 
Operational Support
- Supervise junior staff in the kitchen, ensuring tasks are performed correctly.
 - Ensure correct usage and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
 - Assist with stock control and communicate shortages or ordering needs.
 
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered, candidates must have:
- A Chef’s diploma / professional culinary qualification from a registered tertiary institution.
 - Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in professional kitchens, ideally in catering, hospitality, or healthcare environments.
 - Proven experience in food quality management and standardisation.
 - Knowledge of various cooking techniques (grilling, baking, roasting, frying, steaming, etc.).
 - Familiarity with health and safety requirements in a kitchen setting.
 - Strong focus on quality, consistency, and adherence to sanitation procedures.
 
Skills & Attributes

 - Ability to follow and enforce sanitization and hygiene protocols.
 - High stamina and the ability to perform under pressure.
 - A passion for delivering high-quality meals and service.
 - Creativity and flair in food presentation.

Specific Requirements

Working Hours & Conditions
- You will be required to work 16.25 shifts per month, according to a roster.
 - Shifts run from 07h00 to 19h00, Monday to Sunday.
 - Flexibility is essential to accommodate standby requirements.
 - Market-related salary, based on experience, qualifications, and skills.
 - Additional pay for Sundays (time and a half) and public holidays.
