Introduction:

Eskom’s dynamic Distribution Department is actively seeking to expand its dedicated team with six highly motivated and customer-centric individuals to fill the crucial role of Service Agent within our Contact Centre. These positions, classified at a T10 level, are instrumental in upholding Eskom‘s commitment to delivering unparalleled customer support and ensuring a seamless experience for our valued clientele. Successful candidates will be expected to meticulously follow established procedures, contributing to a consistently high standard of service delivery.

To excel in this multifaceted role, prospective Service Agents should possess a robust set of interpersonal and technical competencies. Strong people skills are paramount, encompassing the ability to build connections with customers from diverse backgrounds, fostering trust and rapport. A solid foundation in job-related and technical knowledge is essential to effectively address inquiries and provide accurate information. The capacity for finding solutions independently and collaboratively is highly valued, as agents will be tasked with resolving complex customer issues efficiently.

This necessitates keen analytical abilities for examining information thoroughly to pinpoint root causes and formulate effective resolutions. Furthermore, proficiency in reaching agreements with customers, navigating different perspectives while maintaining professionalism, is critical. Excellent verbal communication, evidenced by the ability to talk to others clearly and empathetically, is non-negotiable, particularly given the reliance on phone skills for primary customer interaction. The ability to remain composed and effective while handling pressure during peak periods or challenging interactions is also a key attribute we seek.

Main Duties:

  • Answering incoming calls and messages.
  • Doing office tasks that are not direct customer contact.
  • Managing various types of communication and making outgoing calls.
  • Helping and making customer service better.
  • Supporting efforts in advertising, selling, and customer care.
  • Carrying out tasks related to vending, prepaid services, and easy payment.

The Main Duties associated with this role are diverse and contribute significantly to the overall efficiency and customer satisfaction of the Distribution Department. Service Agents will be primarily responsible for answering incoming calls and messages promptly and professionally, acting as the first point of contact for a wide range of customer inquiries. Beyond direct customer interaction, agents will also be involved in doing office tasks that are not direct customer contact, such as data entry, record keeping, and administrative support, ensuring the smooth operation of the contact centre.

A crucial aspect of the role involves managing various types of communication, encompassing not only incoming inquiries but also actively making outgoing calls to follow up on cases, provide updates, or gather necessary information. Proactive engagement in helping and making customer service better is expected, with agents encouraged to identify areas for improvement and contribute to enhancing the overall customer experience. Finally, Service Agents will play a vital part in carrying out tasks related to vending, prepaid services, and easy payment options, assisting customers with these essential aspects of their Eskom services.
